Macbook Pro is Back!
Sunday, September 27, 2009 at 12:05PM On September 19, 2009. One of the worst things that could happen to me happened. My Macbook Pro stopped working!
The symptoms: Everything worked, except for the display, and hooking it up to an external display didn't work either.
How did this happen? Well all I did was close the laptop to put it to sleep. Then a few hours later, i opened it back up, but all it had was a blank screen. It wakes up, but no dislplay. I needed to know if I could fix it myself so i went on my iphone and fiound a forum thread that was 47 pages long! Everyone there experiencing the same thing i was. I went through all pages and the only real fix was just to take it to Apple. Good thing I bought AppleCare for it. So I took it in and talk to the Geniuses and they've had this problem before. They said this was a big thing with the model I have. According to the Genius, It was a such a big problem that they extended the warranty for my model to two more years after purchase.
The Fix: Replace Logic Board.
Something was up with the logic board which also has the Video card on it. So that whole thing needed to be replaced. I finally got my laptop back, with a new logic board and they even replaced the battery because the old one wasn't up to par. Thanks Apple! But I just want to warn everyone. If you have a 2007 Santa Rosa Macbook Pro: This is a common problem.
